Perfect World Glossary

A reference for the terms you meet on Perfect World private servers. Each entry briefly explains what the term means and how it affects choosing a server and playing on it. Terms link to one another, and every entry lets you jump straight to matching servers.

Version (patch)
Version is the Perfect World patch number a server runs on (for example 1.3.6, 1.5.5, 1.7.6). The version determines the available races and classes, accessible locations, gear and systems. Early versions are closer to the classic game with fewer races, while later ones add new content and mechanics. Version is one of the main server characteristics, so it is usually one of the first things listed in a description. Browse Version (patch) servers Related: Classic (1.3.6), Rates, Races
Classic (1.3.6)
Version 1.3.6 is one of the earliest and most recognisable Perfect World versions, known in the community as classic. It offers three starting races and a basic set of classes, with levelling and economy closer to the original game. Servers on 1.3.6 are chosen for nostalgia and a familiar, proven balance without later systems. How truly "vanilla" a server is should be checked in its description. Rates
Rates are the multipliers for gaining experience, spirit, coins and items compared with the official game. A low-rate server keeps slow levelling close to the original, while a high-rate server lets you reach the max level quickly and move on to the endgame. Players often choose a server by its rates, so they are usually listed in the description together with the version. Browse Rates servers Related: Version (patch), Cultivation, Refine
Races
Races in Perfect World determine the available classes, appearance and special abilities such as flight. The number of races differs between versions: early versions offer three races, while later ones add more — Human, Untamed, Winged Elf, Tideborn, Earthguard and Nightshade. The set of races on a server depends directly on its version, so it is worth checking in the description before choosing. Related: Classes, Version (patch), Classic (1.3.6)
Classes
A class defines a character's role in combat: damage, healing, support or crowd control. Classic versions with three races offer six classes: Blademaster, Barbarian, Wizard, Cleric, Archer and Venomancer. Later versions with new races raised the count to twelve and beyond, adding Assassin, Seeker, Mystic, Psychic and others. Venomancer is the Untamed race's pet-tamer and debuffer, not a healer. Cultivation
Cultivation is a character's spiritual development system: by completing special quests, you raise your cultivation level and unlock new skills and abilities. At higher tiers, cultivation branches into two paths — Demon and Sage — which enhance class abilities differently. The choice of path affects your playstyle, making cultivation an important part of character progression in the endgame. Related: Classes, Refine
Refine
Refine is the enhancement of gear through plus levels, boosting its stats. The higher the refine level, the stronger the item, but the greater the risk and cost of upgrading. On private servers, refine chances and rules are often adjusted separately, which noticeably affects the economy and the strength of top players. Refining is usually combined with stones and other enhancement systems. Related: Rates, Cultivation, Genie
Genie
Genie is an auxiliary spirit that a character levels up and equips with skills that add new tactical options in combat: buffs, crowd control or rescue abilities. Genie was introduced in one of Perfect World's early expansions and became an important part of PvP and PvE. A well-built Genie noticeably strengthens a character, so developing one is part of preparing for the endgame. Related: Refine, Classes
Territory War
Territory War is a large-scale PvP event in which guilds fight for control of territories on the world map. Battles run on a schedule and draw large teams of players. The guild holding a territory receives income and influence. An active Territory War is one of the main signs of a strong PvP community, so it is worth checking when choosing a PvP server. Browse Territory War servers Related: Nation War, PvP, Guild (Faction)
Nation War
Nation War is a large-scale, cross-faction PvP event in which players, divided into nations, fight for control of lands on the global map. Unlike Territory War, which is fought between guilds, Nation War brings together large masses of players in team-based combat. It is one of Perfect World's most massive PvP events, and how active it is shows how alive a server is. Browse Nation War servers Related: Territory War, PvP
Guild (Faction)
A guild (called a faction in Perfect World) brings players together for shared gameplay, raids and PvP. Guilds take part in Territory War, share a base and resources, and strong factions shape the balance of power on a server. An organised community is the backbone of the endgame, so guild activity is worth considering when choosing a server for long-term play. Related: Territory War, PvP
PvP
PvP (player versus player) in Perfect World means duels, guild wars, Territory War and Nation War. On PvP servers the rules are often tuned so that clashes are frequent and meaningful, and open-world combat is risky. If you are after competition with real opponents rather than just farming, choose servers with developed PvP and solid class balance. Browse PvP servers Related: PvE, Territory War, Nation War
PvE
PvE (player versus environment) is levelling and farming against monsters, bosses and in dungeons rather than against other players. In Perfect World this covers instances, world bosses and territorial content. Servers focused on PvE emphasise character progression, gear collection and cooperative play. Many servers combine PvE and PvP, but the label shows where the main focus lies. Browse PvE servers Related: PvP, Cultivation, Refine
Incast
Incast is a server build type that keeps the original skill cast time. This mode is closer to the classic combat mechanics, where the speed and timing of skills matter. Incast is contrasted with FullCast, which has instant skills. The build type noticeably changes combat dynamics, so it is worth checking when choosing a server that fits your preferred playstyle. Browse Incast servers Related: FullCast, Version (patch), PvP
FullCast
FullCast is a server build type in which skills trigger instantly, without a cast delay. This speeds up combat and simplifies skill combos compared with Incast, which keeps the original cast time. FullCast changes the balance between classes and the overall pace of PvP, so it is important to know which mode a server uses before choosing it. Browse FullCast servers Related: Incast, PvP
Perfect World Private Server
A Perfect World private server is one run by an independent team rather than the official publisher. Perfect World was developed by the Chinese company Wanmei (Perfect World Co.), with the international PWI version released later. Private servers differ in game version, rates, build type (Incast or FullCast) and their own settings, so players choose them for a specific version, levelling speed and special modes.
