Frequently Asked Questions

The client version defines which races, classes, content zones, and game systems are available on the server. Different versions shipped with different feature sets — from available character archetypes to instance dungeons and crafting mechanics — so the version is the first thing to check when evaluating a server.

Earlier versions offer a more classic experience with the original race and class roster and simpler progression systems, which many players associate with the "golden era" of the game. Later versions introduced additional races, expanded class options, reworked refinement mechanics, and new content zones, resulting in a more complex but also more feature-rich game.

Private server communities tend to gravitate toward versions that are considered well-balanced and represent a complete content experience. Classic versions from the early international era remain consistently in demand because they preserve the flight mechanic and core race variety without the complexity of later expansions, though popularity varies by region and player preference.

Flight is a core feature of Perfect World present across all versions — it is one of the game's defining characteristics available from the early levels. However, specific flight mounts, aerial combat systems, and related content zones may differ depending on which version the server runs.

Use the version filter in the catalogue to narrow the list to servers running the client version that interests you. Each server listing indicates the version in its description or parameters, letting you compare rates, population, and features within the same version group.

What is Perfect World and why private servers are needed

Perfect World is a Chinese MMORPG with open world, flight and large-scale PvP modes. The game features six races (Human, Untamed, Winged Elf, Tideborn, Earthguard, Nightshade) and twelve classes in classic versions. Official servers have over time shifted toward long grinding and paid gear, so some players move to private servers. These are independent projects on the Perfect World client with configured experience and drop rates, altered economy and their own class balance. They offer key activities from the original: dungeons (Twilight Temple, Nirvana), Territory War sieges up to 80 vs 80 and Nation War mode.

Perfect World versions: map of eras

The main axis of choice in Perfect World is the client version. Each version fixes a certain set of races, classes and systems. Below is a guide to the main eras represented on private servers.

VersionEraRaces and classesKey systems and endgame
1.3.6Classic3 races, 6 classes (Human, Untamed, Winged Elf)Twilight Temple, Lunar Glade; no Genie and Tideborn
1.4.xExpansions+ Tideborn, + Earthguard (up to 10 classes)Nirvana, Genie, Rank 8 gear
1.5.1Era of Shadows+ Nightshade: Duskblade and Stormbringer (12 classes)Morai, Rank 8 Recast
1.5.5 (Elysium)Late6 races, 12 classesHomestead (houses), Star Chart, G16/G17 weapons, Uncharted Paradise
1.7.6Modern6 races, 12 classesGlyph system, Boundary levels, Rank 9, dense endgame

The level cap on most versions is 105, after which celestial ascension (Celestial) and cultivation in the Sage or Demon branch opens. Some systems (Genie, Tideborn, Earthguard, Nightshade) were added through successive expansions, so the set of content directly depends on the chosen version.

Server types: PvE, PvP, Incast and FullCast

Besides version, projects differ in playstyle. PvE servers limit free PvP in the open world and focus on dungeons, crafting and economy. PvP servers speed up leveling and gear distribution to move faster to Territory War and mass battles. The Incast build keeps standard spell cast time, while FullCast allows magic classes to stack cast reduction to the limit, speeding up PvP. These parameters are available as separate filters in the rating.

How we build the rating

The BestGames rating is based on verifiable data: version, type, build and activity set are taken from the project card, and position is formed by community votes. We do not sell top spots and do not substitute ratings: filters show the real distribution of projects by versions and modes. If a server provides a link to online statistics, it is displayed as is; otherwise parameters are filled by project administration and we do not present them as measured by the platform. This approach protects players from one-day servers and inflated lists.

How to choose a Perfect World server

First determine the version: classic 1.3.6 and 1.4.x suit fans of slow development and original balance, while 1.5.5 and 1.7.6 offer more systems and content. Then choose the type for your play pace — PvE for measured progression or PvP for fast fights. Pay attention to stability signs: phased content opening, transparent economy and store without max-rank gear from the start. Compare suitable projects in the rating and join the server via direct link.
